VITA shade communication -
"A3 but a bit darker" is no longer good enough
To ensure perfect reproduction of the tooth shade, it is
equally as important to ensure that the shade is communicated accurately to the
dental laboratory as it is to actually determine the shade, as any
misunderstanding leads to expensive and unnecessary extra work. For this reason
we recommend using the color communication form.
We also believe that a digital photo is necessary to analyze
shade effects and details. The VITA Easyshade software contains a template that
enables you to accumulate all the data on one sheet of paper, like a shade
recipe for the laboratory.
Armed with this information, your dental technician can
reliably and quickly create a restoration that matches the remaining teeth
perfectly, and your patients will be thrilled that they do not need to return
to the surgery.
Shade communication tips
First, ensure that the shade you have determined corresponds
to what your patient wants. When communicating with your dental laboratory,
make clear and unambiguous statements. A photo of the patient's whole face can
be of great help to the dental technician, who usually does not see the
patient. Make sure you always document your instructions.
